“After we brought home our puppy, Bess, we were quickly overwhelmed with her anxiety and reactivity. She was crying through the night, scratching at the furniture, nipping at us constantly, and were even told by a groomer that we had an aggressive dog. We were completely overwhelmed and didn’t quite know what to do. We needed training just as much as our puppy. We tried a few group puppy training classes, but they just weren’t for Bess. We couldn’t be happier when a friend highly recommended Amy to us. When she walked into our home the first time she did not feel like a stranger, she felt like a friend. She immediately started working her magic. During the very first visit she helped us recognize Bess’ anxious body language and taught us ways to help stimulate her mind during play and even mealtime. At the end of our first visit she left us feeling confident in the game plan, and gave us the tools we needed to see drastic improvements in Bess’ behavior. Not only did she send us a detailed follow-up email of what we did, what to work on, and what we’ll work on next visit, she also made herself available via email and was quick to respond with empathy and great advice when we had questions and concerns between sessions. Thanks to Amy, we now have better communication, feel a stronger bond, better relationship, and a more enjoyable life with our dog, Bess. We love Amy, and so does Bess.”

“It’s hard to say who loves working with Amy more–my Great Pyrenees Gus or me. I have learned so much about Gus and his sweet lovable personality, loyalty, stubbornness, how arthritis in his knees impacts him and how to enrich his life. Amy understood Gus (his personality, motivators and stress behaviors) more than anyone. And Gus was always excited to work with her and learn new things. She has improved our lives together more than I ever imagined possible.”

“My dog Moon and I have had such a wonderful time training with Amy! Moon had a lot of reactivity toward children. Not knowing his full history prior to me adopting him, as well as me not having the correct training myself to properly address and treat reactivity, was causing serious stress in our lives. The issue had become serious enough that it was time to call in a professional. Not only was Amy able to diagnose and address Moon’s fears toward children, she gave me the tools to help lower his stress (and mine!). I now have a dog who barely registers children! We are so thankful for The Collegiate Canine and I can’t recommend a better trainer for serious behavioral issues!”

“We reached out to The Collegiate Canine for assistance with our reactive and not so great on recall Beagle, Linus.
With the help of Amy and The Collegiate Canine, we were able to get Linus to drop what ever he was doing and focus on his humans. A couple of amazing examples!
Immediate recall and race to the door when busted dining on rabbit caviar!
We had an über eats delivery, and Linus ran to drivers car (shame on us for letting him get out) but OMG RECALL! Back in the house quickly and safe with an amazing stash of treats!
Overall, Linus is doing amazing and we are practicing all of the training tips you shared with us!”

“When we adopted our new puppy Rocky, we noticed that he had some behaviors that we were not comfortable with, like growling and snapping at us and our other dogs. We couldn’t figure out what was going on with him so our vet recommended The Collegiate Canine. Amy did a very thorough analysis of Rocky and his behavior in our home while watching him interact with us and our other pets and determined that he was suffering from anxiety and resource guarding. She is teaching us how to better interact with him by interpreting his body language so that we can understand what he is communicating to us and short training sessions that we can do at home to help desensitize him to the issues that he is having. Amy is very personable and is open to answering any and all of the questions that we have. We had noticed a significant improvement after just the first meeting with her. We are happy to have found her and are looking forward to having a better adjusted doggie friend!”
